Textual Analysis with Voyant Tools In-Person
There are different ways to read a text, and this Lunch and Learn session will focus on digital textual analysis tools that let you read and visualize literary works in ways that can be difficult and time-consuming without the help of digital methods. Voyant Tools (voyant-tools.org) is a free, web-based suite of tools that, used imaginatively, can augment observations you make using traditional close reading techniques, as well as guide inquiries into author attribution, semantic biases, and writing style. We’ll discuss the nature of textuality, eat some pizza, and get into that old question ‘What’s a word distribution graph good for anyhow?’ Hope to see you there.
