Depending on where you hear it, 'digital humanities' can be a term of promise and potential or uncertainty and ambivalence. You may have an idea that will make for a great digital scholarship project but not know how to begin realizing it, or you may have gotten a project off the ground and now want to identify collaborators who will help expand it, or you may want to evaluate what digital scholarship means for the culture of your discipline. In this workshop we'll start by addressing questions like these at the local level. Participants will learn about the various intersecting digital humanities communities and initiatives going strong in the Boston area and about four prevalent flavors of the digital humanities with low barriers of entry: online scholarly communities, digital textual analysis, metadata and digital archives, and digital mapping.
