What does the data tell us about COVID -19? - Introduction to Data Visualization

What does the data tell us about COVID -19? - Introduction to Data Visualization Online

Data visualization has become one of the most powerful ways for the public to get insights about the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak, it can shape the way we think about this crisis. A well designed visualization is worth more than a thousand words, for example, Johns Hopkins COVID-19 dashboard has become the trusted source of the pandemic for many reporters and audiences around the world. However, there are examples of COVID-19 charts that are misleading. In this workshop, we will provide some real examples of COVID-19 data visualization and explain how to communicate with visualization and what makes a good visualization.

In this workshop, participants will learn:

  • The basics of data visualization including some key design principles for creating effective visualizations.

  • How to understand complicated visualizations.
