Working with Sound: Introduction to Audio Recording and Editing (asynchronous) Online

Everyone knows bad sound recording and editing when they hear it yet many of us find that we have trouble doing quality sound work ourselves. Recording and editing sound well is easier said than done. This primarily asynchronous workshop will help you gain or improve your skills by discussing the basics of sound, sound recording, and sound editing using Audacity. You will also be introduced to adding and editing sound in iMovie, a video editing application. (A complementary video editing workshop that will cover more about editing sound with video will be offered on October 22.)

The workshop will begin with a live introductory Q&A on October 1 and end with a meetup on October 15 during which time those who choose to participate can share about their work and experiences. In addition to holding office hours, the instructor will be available to answer questions over the following two weeks via email and Zoom.

The Working with Sound workshop has been turned into this tutorial.

Schedule:

  • Live Introductory Q&A*: October 1, 2:00pm-3:00pm
  • Zoom office hours: October 7, 11:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Meetup: October 15, 2:00 pm-3:00 pm

Stay tuned for more information.
