Introduction to Creating and Using GIS Data Online
This online workshop will provide an introduction to common GIS terminology and data types, including vector- and raster- type data. In addition, we will create our own simple vector data (points) in Excel/Google Docs using the best practices for organizing spatial data with its necessary attributes. Finally, we will import this dataset into the free ArcGIS online to create a simple map. No previous knowledge of GIS is assumed. It may be useful to create a free ArcGIS online account in advance.
