The BC Libraries understand that access to library physical collections and equipment may be necessary for faculty and graduate student research.  In phase 1 of our reopening, the O’Neill Library is accepting scheduled visits from current Boston College faculty and graduate researchers by appointment. In order to minimize contact between visitors and staff, very limited appointments and services are available.  If you can do your work remotely, or by using Interlibrary Loan services or the library pick-up service (BC only), please do so.

  1. This service is available to current Boston College faculty and graduate researchers. Requests from visitors that do not fall under this criteria will be cancelled.

  2. Library appointments are provided to allow access to specialized equipment, printing, scanning, databases, and the physical collections for browsing and check-out.

  3. On-site consultations, space for general study, and equipment assistance are not available.

  4. Visitors are not allowed to bring guests.

  5. Discussions regarding ILL, Reserves, and other library services must be done online.

  6. People requesting appointments to get specific items are encouraged to use Interlibrary Loan services or the library pick-up service (BC only).

  7. Visits need to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

  8. Before you come in, please self assess for COVID 19 symptoms

  9. To access the Library, please go to the O'Neill Library's 3rd floor main entrance, across from the O'Neill Plaza. When you arrive, please call us at 617-552-8038 to be let in.

  10. Upon arrival, visitors must present their email confirmation and a photo ID.

  11. All visitors are required to wear a face-covering for the duration of their visit, and follow social distancing signage and guidelines.

  12. Visitors may retrieve items from the O'Neill Library stacks and must use them in the O’Neill Library 3rd floor Reading Room.

  13. All visitors must be checked in and out of the library by a library staff.
